Small SUVs are growing in popularity in Australia, as more punters abandon light and small passenger cars.

Over established light and small cars like the Toyota Yaris and Corolla, these small SUVs typically offer a higher ride height and sometimes more interior space.

There are so many of these sub-Toyota RAV4 SUVs now that the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI) splits them into light (think Toyota Yaris Cross) and small (think MG ZS) segments.

According to the FCAI, there are 32 cars in the mass-market light and small SUV segments. Up until August 2023, total sales across these segments totalled 132,022, with the top seller being the MG ZS (20,624), followed by the Mazda CX-3 (10,708) and Mazda CX-30 (8376).

In the tables below we have included the cost for the first three years of servicing, including any available pre-paid service packs and plans. If a manufacturer offers a service breakdown we have provided this below as well.
