Ford has recalled the Transit Custom in Australia due to incorrect child-seat information in the owner’s manual.

This error means the van does not comply with Australian Design Rules (ADR).

“The vehicle’s owner’s manual contains incorrect information regarding the location of the child seat top-tether anchor point. As a result, the user may not be able to locate the appropriate anchor point for attaching the child seat top tether strap,” the recall notice said.

“There is no safety hazard, and the defect will not affect the performance of the vehicle. The affected vehicles do not comply with Australian Design Rule (ADR) 34/02 – Child Restraint Anchorages and Child Restraint Anchor Fittings.”

It’s the fifth recall notice for the Transit Custom in the last 12 months and is termed a Field Service Action (FSA) by Ford Australia as it is a voluntary move, not a safety recall.

The most recent Transit Custom recall was issued in December for a gas leak and impacted 7509 Transit Customs and the passenger version of the van, the Ford Tourneo people mover.

The Transit Custom was also one of 29,874 Fords recalled in Australia in June 2025 due to a reversing camera issue that impacted the automaker’s vehicles globally as well as its best-selling  Ranger and Everest here.

For the latest recall, Ford Australia said it will write to owners of affected vehicles.

Customers can also contact their preferred Ford dealer or Ford Customer Relationship Centre on 13 FORD (13 3673).
