The modern day Commodore vs Falcon battle is without a doubt the Toyota HiLux vs the Ford Ranger.

Month after month, these rival utes typically sit atop the sales charts in Australia. And combined, 4×2 and 4×4 ute sales make up the largest segment in Australia in terms of sales volume.

We therefore thought it would be fun to provide a visual representation of ute sales since 1997, focusing on the segment’s best sellers.

For this purpose we have combined each model’s 4×2 and 4×4 sales, even though these are recorded separately in VFACTS.
