Subaru Australia says it has “reasonable” supply of its vehicles, though some of its vehicles are facing longer waits than others.

The company says the Forester Hybrid and Crosstrek Hybrid are facing the longest waits, which are sitting at between four and six months at the moment.

For the Forester Hybrid, that’s a drop from nine or 10 months last year, and Subaru says it’s working to get more supply.

The Outback XT and BRZ are facing wait times of three or four months.

It says other vehicles, depending on variant, are either in stock or will only take a month or so to reach customers when ordered.

“The stock situation compared to say, last year, has improved and is better. We’re not talking long, long, long lead times, but there is, on some models, still a lead time at this point in time,” Subaru Australia managing director Blair Read told CarExpert.

Subaru’s latest vehicle, the new electric Solterra, is also now arriving at dealerships.

“At this stage, we are roughly three to four months out at this stage, depending on spec and those types of things, location…” said Mr Read.

“We’ve got what we think is a reasonable looking pipeline for the rest of the year. There is opportunity for the potential to increase that if need be.”

Subaru sales were up by 28 per cent in 2023, with 46,114 vehicles delivered – the brand’s best year since 2018, when it shifted 50,015 vehicles in Australia.

Only the XV and Impreza were down, with the former being replaced by the Crosstrek and the latter winding down ahead of the launch of a new generation early this year.

The BRZ was up 35 per cent to become Australia’s best-selling sports car, while the Forester was up 54 per cent on the back of improved supply and the Outback improved its tally by 32.5 per cent compared to 2022.

The WRX range was also up a comparatively more modest 14.7 per cent.
