Every dual-cab ute tested to figure out which is best

Car of the year tests are held in high esteem by manufacturers and buyers, but not all car of the year tests are built the same.

Some publications test through the lens of marketing spend, while, in our experience, some don’t test at all and just gather cars for photo and video opportunities.

Realistically, to properly test all cars across all segments, there would be several weeks or months of constant testing, not just a few days.

So with that in mind, we wanted to put together a dual-cab ute test where we actually test things. Testing took seven days, was across two proving grounds, used state-of-the-art testing equipment and covered a number of disciplines relevant to a buyer in the dual-cab ute segment.

We will have a set of winners that cover the following categories:

• Ute of the Year (overall winner)
• Best off-road ute
• Best towing ute (live)
• Best performance ute (now live)
• Fastest ute in Australia (now live)
• Best ute driveline efficiency (now live)
