If you’re one of those unlucky few bogged down by Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series order delays – there may be a more speedy alternative.
Lexus has just announced pricing and specifications for the 2022 Lexus LX range and while it’s more expensive than the LandCruiser, it creates a quicker and more luxurious ownership path into the big four-wheel drive platform.
We had the chance to get up close and personal with the new Lexus LX in Ultra Luxury four-seat configuration to see if it’s worth tipping your money into
One of the first things you notice on the outside is how different the LX looks to the LandCruiser it shares a platform with. Lexus has gone for a far more luxurious bent with a focus on detail.
The other big difference here with the diesel-only LandCruiser is that the LX will be available with a turbocharged six-cylinder petrol in addition to the V6 diesel from the LandCruiser.
Inside the cabin Lexus has also ditched the not-so-great LandCruiser infotainment system and instead gone with the new Lexus unit.
The Ultra Luxury is also just that – ultra luxury. This variant gets its own woodgrain-style trim and diamond-stitched seating – plus the most luxurious four-seat arrangement.
It’s damn nice inside the cabin – the sumptuous four-seat configuration includes a massage function and heating and cooling for all four seats. It also comes with screens attached to the front seatbacks for added entertainment.
The rear left passenger seat can also be reclined by moving the front passenger seat almost entirely out of the way.
It’s a pretty impressive beast and we can’t wait to get behind the wheel in the coming weeks.
