Subaru Liberty: SUV craze kills long-running sedan globally
2 Years Ago
The Subaru Liberty is a mid-sized sedan and wagon line that helped establish Subaru's reputation for all-wheel drive passenger cars in Australia. It is no longer on sale as a new model locally, as buyer demand has shifted from traditional sedans and wagons to SUVs. The Liberty was known for secure handling, long-distance comfort and a practical, understated character, with performance variants adding turbocharged appeal in earlier generations. It suited families and commuters who wanted something more stable and all-weather capable than a typical front-wheel drive sedan. While the nameplate has faded from new-car lists, it remains an important part of Subaru's Australian identity.
