2026 BMW iX3 price and specs

The second-generation BMW iX3 is now reaching Australian buyers, with deliveries of the dual-motor all-wheel drive 50 xDrive having already commenced.

It'll be followed in the fourth quarter (October to December) of 2026 by the single-motor rear-wheel drive iX3 40.

The iX3 debuts the German automaker’s Neue Klasse dedicated electric vehicle (EV) platform, new batteries, plus a new exterior and interior design language for the brand that includes a bold pillar-to-pillar digital cabin display.

It serves as an electric counterpart to the mid-size X3 SUV, though it uses different underpinnings and features dramatically different styling. However, BMW plans to roll out this new design language across its range.

The new iX3 will be followed in early 2027 by the i3 sedan, a 3 Series-sized electric sedan. The i3 also uses the Neue Klasse architecture.

Rivals for the iX3 include the Audi Q6 e-tron, Mercedes-Benz GLC EV and Porsche Macan.

Drivetrains and Efficiency

The 50 xDrive features BMW’s sixth-generation eDrive tech, with a 108.7kWh net/113.4kWh gross battery pack with nickel manganese cobalt chemistry and new cylindrical battery cells. The company claims these offer 20 per cent greater energy density than its Gen5 prismatic battery cells.

Servicing and Warranty

BMW may offer pre-paid service plans for its EVs as with its other vehicles, but its EVs don't have predetermined service intervals. These instead feature 'condition-based servicing', with the car telling you when it’s time for a service, and even alerting your dealer via connected services.

Service Inclusive plans cover typical diagnostics, while BMW also offers Service Inclusive Plus plans – priced at $5535 for four years and $6615 for six years – which also cover wear items like brake pads and discs and windscreen wipers.

Safety

The BMW iX3 was the first model assessed under independent safety authority ANCAP's new, tougher 2026 protocols. It received an overall rating of five stars.

Standard safety equipment across the range includes:

21-inch alloy wheel options cost between $2500 and $3200, while 22-inch wheel options cost between $5300 and $7700.

Leather upholstery (Black or Adelaide Grey) is a $4000 option, while a Digital White BMW Individual steering wheel is a $300 option.

You can also add trailer tow hitch preparation for $2500, though this excludes a tow bar tongue kit and power cable. These, BMW says, will be made available for sale via its dealerships, with pricing not yet available.

Colours

Alpine White is the standard exterior paint finish.
