Interested in a Mitsubishi Pajero Sport?

The Mitsubishi Pajero Sport family is growing for 2022, with new 4×2 variants and a sporty-looking GSR flagship.

UPDATE, 31/05/2022 – Mitsubishi Australia has increased the before on-road pricing for the Pajero Sport by $500 as part of a wider range price increase. The range now starts at $44,440 before on-road costs.

The MY22 range arrives in showrooms in January 2022.

When the MY22 Pajero Sport was announced late last year, the addition of the 4×2 GLX meant the range opened at $3550 lower than before.

However, every carryover variant took on a price hike of between $1450 and $1500.

“New GSR and 2WD variants make the 22MY Pajero Sport range more attractive to a wider span of customers than ever, while preserving the model’s renowned value for money,” said a spokesperson for Mitsubishi Australia.

The 4×2 GLX is currently being offered at $47,240 drive-away.

Both it and the 4×2 GLS, in addition to lacking four-wheel drive, also miss out on paddle shifters and have a slightly lower braked towing capacity (3000kg vs 3100kg).

However, these models are otherwise specified the same as their 4×4 counterparts, and use the same 2.4-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine with 133kW of power and 430Nm of torque, mated with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Mitsubishi isn’t alone in offering more affordable, rear-wheel drive versions of its ute-based SUV, with the Isuzu MU-X and Ford Everest also offered in 4×2 variants.

Sitting atop the range, as in the mechanically-related Triton, is a GSR variant with black wheels, a black grille, and other black-finish exterior tweaks.

On the Pajero Sport GSR, this also includes a black contrast roof, along with Pajero Sport lettering across the bonnet. It’s available in just two colours: White Diamond and Black.

    It’s currently being offered at $64,490 drive-away.
