    About the Kia Picanto

Emma purchased this Kia Picanto new with additional options for $22,100 (including all on-road costs). Emma would buy this car again because: “I bought this car for my daughter to learn to drive in and then have as her first car. Personally, I would prefer to drive other cars, but it has been a perfect first car for her and would be for other young drivers.”

How reliable has your car been? Tell us about any issues.

So far I have had no issues with the car. Everything seems to be working well and nothing has come loose. This is especially reassuring considering my daughter, who is driving the car, is not an experienced driver. Pretty good overall.

What do you think of the ownership experience with your car?

I bought this Picanto as a stopgap for myself as I had a bad experience with a used vehicle.

The idea for this purchase was to have a car for my daughter to learn in and then it will be hers to drive once she has a licence. I was after a small car with a bit of style and the Kia Picanto fit the style and price.

How has the purchase and aftercare experience been with your car?

Due to me working close to home I have not put many kilometres on it. It is due for its first service and this was easily done online with various times for drop off and pick up to suit my needs.

Are you happy with the price and features of your car?

I think in general the price of new cars has risen but I believe what I have got with this GT Line Picanto is great value for money. Full leather interior, leather steering wheel, hands-free Wi-Fi connected Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It doesn’t have digital radio but I can live without it.

What do you think of the performance and economy of your car?

Performance is a little underwhelming with a 1.25-litre, four-cylinder engine. Previous models had a turbo version and I think that could make a difference. Once driving out it on the open the fuel economy is fantastic.

Short runs to and from work make it a little more thirsty. With a 35L fuel tank you are limited to how far you can go.

What do you think of the technology in your car?

The technology is pretty basic for this model with manual A/C switches and key start but the entertainment package competes with any other brand. My daughter is pretty happy about the Apple CarPlay option as, when she gets her P2 licence she can play her own music.

What do you think of the ride comfort and handling of your car?

The ride is smooth and very comfortable for a very small car. It handles really well and parking is a dream. It is very easy to move around safely with the reverse camera and excellent vision from the vehicle. Perfect for a young driver.
