    About the Toyota HiLux

I purchased this Toyota HiLux new for $42,000 (including all on-road costs) and would buy this car again because I absolutely loved the car so far. It has been exactly what I wanted and more.

How reliable has your car been? Tell us about any issues.

Nothing wrong with the car so far.

What do you think of the ownership experience with your car?

Ownership has been great. Car was exactly what I was looking for and needed.

How has the purchase and aftercare experience been with your car?

Great to have capped price servicing. Toyota Service centre customer service can sometimes be a bit hit and miss depending on where you go but generally pretty good.

Are you happy with the price and features of your car?

Would be nice to have apple CarPlay considering it is a 2019 model. The off-road traction control system is seriously impressive. Leaves all the other dual cabs behind off-road. Its pretty rare that I need to use the rear diff lock.

What do you think of the performance and economy of your car?

Fuel economy is pretty decent for what it is. I have a moderate number of external accessories and get an average of 10L / 100km, do a mix of city, highway and off-road so pretty happy with that. Tends to run out of guts when you are trying to accelerate at 100, especially when you have a bit of weight on board. You really need to drop down a few gears to get it going up hills or overtaking.

What do you think of the technology in your car?

The safety suite is pretty impressive. The lane departure warning becomes a bit annoying after a while so I end up leaving it off most of the time. The AEB has come in handy, saving me a couple times when a car has pulled a dramatic move in front of me. The radar cruise control is reasonably good but sometimes will slam on the brakes for a car which is merging out of my lane and I am starting to go past.

What do you think of the ride comfort and handling of your car?

Ride comfort is pretty decent and to be expected of a ute with rear leaf springs. Can be a little bit light in the rear over bumps around corners on country roads and jump out a bit but always pulls back in.

Do you have any additional comments about your car?

Headlights are pretty dim on the SR. Definitely requires light bars etc for night driving in country areas.
