Sometimes it pays to be forgetful.
A video shared by Dash Cam Owners Australia shows a lucky driver avoiding being stuck in a Hyundai Getz after lightning strikes a tree just next to it.
He’s loading the little Hyundai up when he ducks away to grab something he forgot from inside a house.
Not three seconds after he dashes away from the car, lightning strikes the tree and branches plummet down, landing on the Getz and damaging it.
Naturally, he comes back looking flummoxed.
ABC News reports it’s estimated between five and 10 people are killed by lightning in Australia each year, and about 10 times that are injured.
