The driver of a Tesla Model S Plaid has been caught on camera speeding through a dealer lot and dramatically smashing into two luxury vehicles.

The video was reposted on TikTok by newdaplv153, and shows both the start of the joyride and its aftermath.

According to the video, the Tesla driver was reportedly a co-worker from CarMax (a dealership chain in the United States.

For context the Tesla Model S Plaid is capable of producing up to 761kW from its tri-motor powertrain, and can do the 0-60mph (96km/h) sprint in just under 2 seconds.

In the video, the vehicle speeds past the camera and the driver can be seen applying the brakes. However, it then cuts to the Model S having crashed into a Mercedes-Benz and a Volvo.

Overlay text claims the incident caused over $300,000 worth of repairs or damages. A video of the Model S shows the entire bonnet and front fascia of the vehicle completely crumpled which understandably forced the airbags to deploy.

This vehicle was likely totalled, though it’s not clear how much the damage costs of the other two vehicles would have amounted to. In the United States, a brand new Tesla Model S Plaid costs A$139,400 (A$215,322).

Somebody can be heard in the video asking “Was this a test drive?” Another person replies “A test drive? No, stupidity”.

“I don’t want to get in trouble, don’t show too many people,” says another person in the video. It’s too late, with the video having gone viral.
