Ford is recalling over 500 examples of the Transit Custom cargo van and its Tourneo people mover sibling to fix a software issue that may prevent various features from working, including a safety system.

"Due to a software issue, the door control units may not operate as intended. As a result, there may be a loss of multiple functions such as the mirror turn signal, blind spot indicator, mirror folding and adjust, and window control operations," the company says in its recall notice.

"A loss of multiple functions could increase the risk of an accident, causing serious injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users, and any persons located behind the vehicle."
