BMW Australia has once again increased the asking price for most of its models.
All the models affected by this particular price rise have had their before on-road asking price increased by between $1000 and $11,000, depending on the model and variant.
These models include: the 1 Series hatchback; certain 2 Series coupes; the 2 Series Gran Coupe; the 3 Series sedan and wagon; the M3 sedan; the 4 Series coupe, convertible and Gran Coupe; the M4 coupe and convertible; certain 5 Series sedans; the M5 sedan; certain 7 Series sedans; the Z4 convertible; and the X1, X2, X3, X4, X5, X6 and X7 SUVs.
“BMW constantly reviews its pricing structure throughout the year, taking into consideration a number of different factors,” said a BMW Australia spokesperson.

“However, we always aim to ensure our products remain appropriately positioned and represent a competitive pricing proposition in the market for our customers.”
This latest price increase builds on a previous price increase from April 2022, which saw almost every BMW model have its price rise between $1000 and $10,000.
BMW isn’t alone in raising the prices on the majority of its range. Audi recently upped the prices on most of its models, and Mercedes-Benz has also done so in the past.
The lower $1000 price rise this time around has generally been applied to more affordable entry-level models such as the 1 Series, X2 and the outgoing X1. It’s also been applied to the Z4 sports car.
M4 convertible
The 2022 BMW 1 Series range now starts at $49,900 before on-road costs for the entry-level 118i, and extends to $72,900 before on-road costs for the high-performance M135i xDrive.
Many of the higher performance models such as the M3, M4, M5, X5 M Competition, and X6 M Competition have received price rises of between $3000 and $6000.
Certain variants of the outgoing BMW 7 Series have received the highest price rise of $11,000. The 740i now starts at $215,900 before on-road costs and the 740Li starts at $245,900 before on-road costs.
Even with the price hike, it’s still a far cry from the upcoming, seventh-generation 740i which starts at $268,900 before on-road costs. Customer deliveries of the new 7 Series and the all-electric i7 set to start in the fourth quarter of 2022.

Unlike last time, BMW has applied $5000 price increases to certain variants in its all-electric range, including the i4 liftback and iX SUV.
Models that aren’t affected by this particular prise rise are the 230i two-door coupe, certain variants of the 5 Series sedan, certain variants of the outgoing 7 Series sedan range, 8 Series, M8, all-electric iX3, certain variants of the iX, and the entry-level BMW i4 eDrive40.

The Bavarian automaker has a few new cars on the way including facelifted versions of the 3 Series and X7, as well as new-generations of the X1 and 7 Series. There are also the high-performance M3 Touring and M4 CSL coming too.
