Toyota Australia has released information on the next-generation, hybrid-only Camry sedan ahead of its local launch later this year.

    The next-generation Toyota Camry is due in Australia in the second half of 2024, and will be offered in three trim levels: Ascent, Ascent Sport and SL.

    The sporty-looking SX has been dropped, and as previously confirmed there’s no price-leader petrol-only Ascent model.

    Pricing for the 2025 range has yet to be announced.

    All models will use Toyota’s fifth-generation hybrid system, incorporating a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine, an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery.

    It’s likely we’ll continue to only get the front-wheel drive Camry Hybrid here, which has a total system output of 168kW; all-wheel drive will be offered in some markets, with slightly more power at 173kW.

    All models will come standard with the following safety equipment:

    • Adaptive cruise control
    • Autonomous emergency braking
    • Blind-spot monitoring
    • Driver monitoring camera
    • Front and rear parking support brake
    • Rear cross-traffic alert
    • Safe exit assist
    • Front and rear parking sensors
    • Surround-view camera

    Features like blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert were previously excluded from the base Ascent.

    The entry-level Ascent will come standard with the following equipment:

    • 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system
    • Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
    • 7.0-inch instrument cluster screen
    • Toyota Connected Services
    • Six-speaker sound system
    • 2 x rear USB-C outlets
    • Fabric upholstery
    • Dual-zone climate control
    • Electronic parking brake
    • 17-inch alloy wheels
    • LED headlights
    • LED tail lights

    The Ascent Sport adds the following:

    • 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system
    • Satellite navigation
    • Wireless phone charger
    • Eight-way power driver’s seat
    • Leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter
    • “High-grade” LED headlights
    • Electrochromatic rear-view mirror

    The SL adds the following:

    • 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster
    • Digital rear-view mirror
    • Paddle shifters
    • Heated steering wheel
    • Leather-accented upholstery
    • Heated and ventilated front seats
    • Eight-way power passenger seat
    • Nine-speaker JBL sound system
    • Power steering wheel adjustment
    • Panoramic sunroof
    • Head-up display
    • Rain-sensing wipers
    • Heated exterior mirrors
    • Rear privacy glass
    • Rear camera washer
    • 18-inch alloy wheels
