Thereâs more than a few interesting headlight designs in Subaruâs history, and now you can add the facelifted Forester to that list.
A spokesperson for Subaruâs Australian distributor said details about local availability and timing will be announced in the next few weeks.
Launched overnight in Japan, the 2022 Subaru Forester has a revised front fascia with a taller grille, redesigned headlight units and round fog lights.
Subaru says the face is part of its âbolderâ design philosophy.

There are also new alloy wheel designs for a âmore powerful SUV-likeâ look.
Japanese market Sport variants have orangey-red trim along the bottom of the vehicle.
Weâve only been able to find one photo of the revised Foresterâs rear, and there doesnât seem to be any significant changes out back.

Subaru says it has improved the suspension setup for more âsuppleness and sportinessâ.
Inside, the cabin seems to be largely carried over unchanged.
The EyeSight safety system has been improved with new stereoscopic cameras that have a wider field of vision, allowing the car to see more of the world ahead of it.

In Japan, the updated Forester is available with just two drivetrain options.
In its homeland most models have a hybrid setup with a 2.0-litre boxer engine making 107kW and 188Nm, and a small electric motor rated at 10kW and 65Nm.
As standard all hybrid models now come with e-Active Shift Control, allowing the car to automatically increase engine speed when going downhill and during cornering.

Japanese-market Sport models are fitted with a 1.8-litre turbocharged four-cylinder boxer that makes 130kW and 300Nm.
