Ford Australia has issued a safety recall for 180 vehicles across its Transit Custom and Transit commercial van lines, over concerns the front lower control arms could fracture.

“The vehicles may be fitted with front lower control arms that contain incomplete welds, which may lead to fracture of the component,” the company says.

“A fractured lower control arm could result in front lower control arm joint separation, resulting in loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of an accident that could result in injury or death of vehicle occupants and/or other road users.”

    • 15 Transits and 165 Transit Customs affected (180 total)
    • Vehicles built between June 2020 and July 2020

Owners of the recalled Transit and Transit Custom vans will be contacted by Ford Australia to arrange the inspection and repair of their vehicle, free of charge.
