The Hyundai Staria Load is gaining an electric powertrain, giving the Korean brand a rival to the likes of the LDV eDeliver 7 and Ford E-Transit Custom in the growing electric van segment.

It's available now, with a list price of $70,990 before on-road costs – $21,000 more than the base diesel and $17,500 more than the recently launched hybrid.

The Staria Load Electric is available only in base trim, with the plusher Premium trim exclusive to the Staria Load Hybrid and priced at $61,240 plus on-roads.

With the new Electric, Hyundai has retained the same cargo bay dimensions as diesel and hybrid versions of the Staria Load, while payload is a few kilograms higher than the diesel model. Braked towing capacity is 2000kg, not as high as the diesel (2500kg) but superior to the hybrid, which isn't rated to tow at all.

The Electric is distinguished from other Staria Loads via a closed-off grille, while inside it features a standard 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, as seen on the Hybrid Premium.

As part of changes for 2027 announced earlier this year, the Staria Load range has received a standard 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, over-the-air software update capability, and a standard five-year subscription to Bluelink connected services. The five-seat crew van configuration was dropped, while a hybrid powertrain was added.

    Pricing

Hyundai Australia charges the same price regardless of whether you opt for a lift-up rear tailgate or twin swing doors. Only the Premium doesn't offer this choice, coming exclusively with a lift-up tailgate.

    Drivetrains and Efficiency

There's a choice of diesel, hybrid and electric powertrains available.

The Staria Load Electric uses a heat pump and an 800V electrical architecture, and Hyundai says using a 350kW charger it'll take 20 minutes to take the battery from 10 to 80 per cent. It also features a standard three-pin vehicle-to-load (V2L) outlet in the cargo area, allowing you to power small appliances.
