The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter has come in for its fourth recall this year.

“Brake fluid may leak internally at the rear axle brake caliper over time. As a result, air may enter the rear brake system,” the company says in its recall notice.

“Air in the brake system would lead to increased rear brake pedal travel and reduced braking performance, increasing the risk of an accident resulting in injury or death to vehicle occupants and/or other road users.”

It follows a recall of 11 vehicles for a reversing light failure, five vehicles for a welding issue, and 4176 vehicles for an owners’ manual misprint.

    • A total of 2882 vehicles are affected
    • Vehicles were available for sale from August 8, 2018 to December 22, 2020
