Mercedes-Benz is recalling five examples of its full-sized Sprinter van due to some incorrect welding.

“As part of the production process, the B-Pillar that joins the floor panel structure may not be welded correctly,” the company says in its recall notice.

“In the event of a side impact accident, the weld joint may fail and could cause reduced protection for the fuel tank and vehicle occupants. This increases the risk of injury or death to the vehicle occupants and other road users.”

    • A total of five vehicles are affected
    • Vehicles were available for sale from 13 October 2020 to 30 November 2020
    • The VIN list is attached here
    • The original recall notice is attached here

If you own an affected vehicle, you’ll need to take it to a Mercedes-Benz dealer for a free repair.
