    2013 Volkswagen Polo Comfortline

    New • $19,990✓Would buy again

A very fuel efficient quality runabout

These 2013 Volkswagen Polo 6R models are quite robust and have a build quality renowned by VW before more modern cars started liberally using crap plastics. The 1.2TSI is very punchy with great low-down torque while maintaining excellent fuel economy. Driving quality is great for a light, short-wheelbase car. Things to consider are common issues with carbon buildup on valves, common with any direct-injection engine, possible timing chain stretch, and DSG clutch issues on automatics – although I…

    2025 Geely Starray EM-i Inspire

    New • $44,000✓Would buy again

    Smooth drive and spacious interior

The Geely Starray EM-i is easy to drive around town on electric only, and transitions to ICE power seamlessly on longer trips. Very quiet and comfortable ride. Plenty of room with comfortable seats on long drives. Plenty of power from 1.5L engine even on steep hills. More room in rear seats than competitors. Can turn off annoying bings with shortcut button. Ride better than some reviewers suggest. Can’t beat the price. MORE: Explore the Geely Starray showroom

    2025 Deepal E07 Base

    New • $83,000✓Would buy again

Luxury high performance SUV at a bargain price

Mainly used for city commuting and carrying loads for my business. Swapped it over from a VW Amarok. Probably best described as China’s version of the Tesla Cybertruck but probably even more practical. Loaded with features. This AWD Performance E07 is ridiculously quick and turns plenty of heads in the street. MORE: Explore the Deepal E07 showroom

    2026 BYD Shark 6 Dynamic

    New • $57,990✓Would buy again

The BYD Shark 6 represents the Chinese tidal wave

Western manufacturers with their Thailand-made utes (Ford, Toyota, D-Max, etc) Better look out, because China is coming! And it's going to be a tidal wave while Toyota, Ford, Nissan and Isuzu are asleep at the wheel! The BYD Shark 6 is better drive, better tech, and a better price! It tows better than most, even with the 2.5 limit on the smaller engine spec; power is no issue. Less than 100km trips, fuel economy is amazing, under 2L/100km. Over 100km trips, fuel usage does jump up, and if you…

    New • $35,000✓Would buy again

One month of driving our new SUV

Only short trips, up to 100km so far. The vehicle is easy and comfortable to drive. It seems to live up to the advertising information. There is plenty of room, as four adult passengers would confirm. The driving position can be easily altered to accommodate any driver. The vehicle feels safe to drive; all essential controls are on the steering wheel, apart from the gear change. That last aspect was one of the reasons we chose this vehicle. Not at all comfortable with column gear selection on…

2025 Land Rover Defender X-Dynamic Se

    New • $136,000✓Would buy again

So good to be back in a Land Rover

Daily driven with plenty of torque and great looks. Basic aftermarket mods have made it even more capable. And I OFTEN look back at it when I walk away. Came from a 250 Prado (massively disappointing, and a 150 before that). Prior to the Prados, however, I had a Discovery 4, which I loved. MORE: Explore the Land Rover Defender showroom

    2010 Mitsubishi Pajero Platinum

2010 Mitsubishi Pajero Platinum owner review

Have you experienced any reliability issues with your vehicle since you purchased it? No. Have you had to make any warranty claims? No. Has your vehicle been serviced at least once since you took ownership? Yes. This is the best Pajero and a great shame manual Pajero 3.2-litre 4WDs have been discontinued. Very economical, regularly 8L/100km, tolerates coasting, no mechanical issues with nearly 200,000km done. Great for tall drivers. The new model Pajero Sport isn't a patch on this wonderful…

    2017 Skoda Superb

2017 Skoda Superb 162TSI owner review

Have you experienced any reliability issues with your vehicle since you purchased it? Yes. Hasn't been riddled with problems, but quite a few things have had to be replaced; realistically, nothing out of the ordinary for Euro cars. Here's a list: Have you had to make any warranty claims? No. Has your vehicle been serviced at least once since you took ownership? Yes. I got the car serviced/repaired at Skoda at first, but now get it serviced at an independent mechanic (after I thought the price…

Have you experienced any reliability issues with your vehicle since you purchased it? No. Have you had to make any warranty claims? No. Has your vehicle been serviced at least once since you took ownership? No. Overall, are you satisfied with your ownership experience so far? Yes. Cheap as chips for what you get. 2023 Cupra Born E-Boost owner review

Have you experienced any reliability issues with your vehicle since you purchased it? No. Have you had to make any warranty claims? No. Has your vehicle been serviced at least once since you took ownership? Yes. Taking the car to the authorised Brisbane Cupra service centre, I asked that any software updates be performed. Even with this direct request, nothing was done. Knowing it can take several days for this work, I even volunteered to leave the car for as long as they needed to perform the…

Have you experienced any reliability issues with your vehicle since you purchased it? No. Have you had to make any warranty claims? No. Has your vehicle been serviced at least once since you took ownership? No. Overall, are you satisfied with your ownership experience so far? Yes. Purchased the BMW X5 PHEV as a demo with only 1500km. Very economical, I charge daily, and we have half a tank of petrol, and we purchased the car four months ago. We haven't put petrol since the purchase, hence more…
