2026 BYD Shark 6 Owner ReviewThe BYD Shark 6 represents the Chinese tidal wave

    Posted by: CarExpert R.

    Pros

    • V2L
    • Speed and performance
    • Cruise control

    Cons

    • Fuel econ over 300km (once you hit 25% soc) is the same as every other ute
    • DMS – but thats sorted with a 3DP Cover
    • The payload is a little low, being such a heavy tare

Western manufacturers with their Thailand-made utes (Ford, Toyota, D-Max, etc) Better look out, because China is coming! And it's going to be a tidal wave while Toyota, Ford, Nissan and Isuzu are asleep at the wheel!

The BYD Shark 6 is better drive, better tech, and a better price!

It tows better than most, even with the 2.5 limit on the smaller engine spec; power is no issue.

Less than 100km trips, fuel economy is amazing, under 2L/100km.

Over 100km trips, fuel usage does jump up, and if you are towing or doing 300+ kilometre trips, fuel economy does creep back up to that 8+ litres, same as any other ute.

The built-in generator is a game changer also; take a 240V appliance wherever you go, with a full 10A available per socket, or 15A via the V2L port.
