    About the Volvo S60

Lachlan M purchased this Volvo S60 new with additional options for $65,000 (including all on-road costs). Lachlan M would buy this car again because: “I’ve been really impressed with the great off-the-shelf specs, high quality fit and finish, and it suits my personal requirements very well.

Very comfortable to drive, with great tech to assist with the drive, and features that I miss when switching between this and my other car. Bit of a sleeper, even without the Polestar optimisation, so that has made it a lot more enjoyable too.”

How reliable has your car been? Tell us about any issues.

Has been very reliable, as you would expect in a 15 month old vehicle. Auto high-beam and bending headlights were a bit temperamental in the first few weeks, but hasn’t missed a beat since.

Apple CarPlay can also glitch occasionally, especially when plugged in before starting the car.

Do have one mark in the passenger door (my own fault) but did dent a bit more than I would have thought given the impact.

What do you think of the ownership experience with your car?

Getting the first service booked in was troublesome. Local dealer quoted a nine-week wait on initial enquiry.

After reaching out to Volvo Car Australia, I was booked in within four. Still a decent wait, and not in line with previous service experience with the Dealer Group I have had in the past with a different marque.

I do have an included five-year service plan, so no maintenance costs incurred yet. I’m also only at just over 12,000km so early stages of the life-cycle so far.

How has the purchase and aftercare experience been with your car?

After the wheeling and dealing to get my preferred colour and audio pack, we finally struck a deal. As the car was on the water I waited nine weeks for delivery, which in the current environment is pretty competitive.

Having a good local dealer was key to my decision making, especially as I have dealt with that Dealer Group for a long-time too.

    Service/Aftercare, see comments above.

Are you happy with the price and features of your car?

Very pleased with the on-road price. Equivalently specced Lexus/BMW/MB was at least $10k+ more.

Enjoying the driver assistance technology. You do become very familiar with it very quickly, which is a sign of good ergonomics and logic.

The clean interior design and portrait screen display does take a bit of time to get used to. Only seven buttons!

I only wish there was a separate button to turn on the 360 camera, rather than swiping into the menu and/or selecting reverse.

Would have loved the B&W Audio, but was just not possible with my preferred colour/grade at the time.

What do you think of the performance and economy of your car?

Performance has been impressive, even without the Polestar optimisation. (One day, maybe)

Heavy on fuel, to what I expected. It is a heavy vehicle and add in AWD. But it’s quick off the lights and I can have a ‘big foot’ so it’s probably more the driver than the car…

What do you think of the technology in your car?

Excellent. Works really well, and not too intrusive.

You do rely on it and it has become very familiar very quickly. The Pilot Assist is impressive, especially on a divided regional highway that’s not full of commuter traffic. CarPlay can be a bit glitchy, but overall is very well integrated.

What do you think of the ride comfort and handling of your car?

Very comfortable, and great on a long country highway. It does eat up the miles, with comfortable seating, quiet interior and a good audio package.

Will be interesting to see how the Continental tyres hold up, as I feel that they’re not going to be as durable as a Michelins that i’ve been driving on for 20+ years.

Do you have any additional comments about your car?

Have just been waiting four months for Thule Cross Bars (connecting kit) as it’s not a common model.
