    About the Mercedes-Benz C200

Gerry purchased this Mercedes-Benz C200 used for $47,000 (including all on-road costs) in 2020. Gerry would buy this car again because: “Yes. After having a Ford Territory for a number of years, we went to Mercedes with a view to buying another SUV. A brilliant blue metallic 2017 C200 sedan caught our eye. The car was fully optioned with the AMG Line, exterior, AMG Line interior, Vision Package and head-up display. It also had the panoramic glass sunroof and the night package. It had done 35,000km.”

How reliable has your car been? Tell us about any issues.

We have added another 30,000km to the car and during the last four years.

It has been completely reliable. It is only been in for scheduled services. One thing we did change is we are now running conventional tyres as opposed to the run-flat tyres it comes with a standard, this has improved the ride substantially

What do you think of the ownership experience with your car?

While we were in the showroom, we were thinking about whether this car would be suitable for our needs.

We planned to go away and think about whether we could live with a sedan as supposed to our intended purchase of an SUV. The salesman invited us to have lunch in the Mercedes-Benz restaurant where we could discuss the purchase over a meal.

After leaving us alone to contemplate our purchase, we decided to buy the car. Each time we get the car serviced we enjoy pleasant surroundings of the showroom restaurant.

Are you happy with the price and features of your car?

We were lucky enough to purchase before the COVID-19 used car price surge.

The car had almost every optional, extra box ticked and the AMG wheels completely change the look of the car for the better.

Whilst we have noticed almost the entire Mercedes range has now gone to two large touchscreens, I am more than happy with the physical buttons on my car.

What do you think of the performance and economy of your car?

The car has a 2.0L turbocharged engine, putting out 135kW and 300Nm. It has a seven-speed automatic gearbox.

We average around 8.0L/100km in what is mostly heavy traffic in the city area

Performance is adequate and I would have been very interested in trying the C300 – although the fact it is now also a four-cylinder does take some of the appeal off. If Mercedes still a C300 with a six-cylinder engine I might have been more inclined to look at one of those.

What do you think of the technology in your car?

From a safety viewpoint, the vehicle has all the technology that is required.

While the instruments and central display are starting to look a bit old-fashioned compared to the latest range from Mercedes, we are more than happy with the traditional gauges. Whilst the centre screen is a lot smaller than the new C200 we like the fact that our vehicle has more buttons and switches.

What do you think of the ride comfort and handling of your car?

The car handles well. It is your traditional German car with suspension that is slightly on the firmer side.

As previously stated we did move from the run-flat tyres that are standard to a conventional tyre. This has greatly improved the ride over smaller bumps which seem to be more pronounced with the run-flat tyres, the balance between comfort is greatly improved
