V L purchased this Mercedes-Benz C124 used for $6,000 (including all on-road costs) in 2021. V L would buy this car again because: “Classic design, highly specified for a 1988 car. Easy to restore with parts readily available.”
How reliable has your car been? Tell us about any issues.
Due to lockdowns, have not been able to bring the car in for a Blue Slip inspection and hence, not able to drive the car much. Hard to gauge the long term reliability so far but the 350km drive from the seller to Sydney was without dramas.
What do you think of the ownership experience with your car?
It’s been a great lockdown past time. Troubleshooting the minor issues in a 30+ year old car has been fun. Can’t wait to be able to drive the car round after lockdowns and once the car is registered.
Are you happy with the price and features of your car?
Great price for a lot of car. All the modern conveniences are available – power windows, tilt and slide electric sunroof, cruise control, seatbelt butler, ABS. Best of all, everything still works.
What do you think of the performance and economy of your car?
Based on the one long trip bringing the car back to Sydney, economical. Used less than half a tank to complete the drive. Engine and and transmission was smooth. Stable on the motorway.
What do you think of the technology in your car?
Fantastic for a 1980s car.
What do you think of the ride comfort and handling of your car?
Low profile tyres makes the ride harsh on Sydney roads. Handling is great though.
