Toyota is gearing up for a huge shipment of RAV4 Hybrids in the first quarter of 2024.

Wait times for the electric SUV hit between 18 and 24 months during the COVID pandemic, and are currently sitting at around 12 months.

The waits were so long Toyota Australia rolled out a new customer letter in May 2022 explaining anyone who ordered a RAV4 wasn’t guaranteed to get a vehicle in same specification, or at the same price, as when they put their name on the list.

Toyota Australia vice president for sales and marketing Sean Hanley says a huge batch of RAV4 hybrids currently scheduled to touch down in Australia late in the first quarter or early in the second quarter of 2024 will cut that wait to around six months, however.

The stock boost comes as a number of rivals roll out hybrid SUVs to take on the all-conquering RAV4 in Australia.

Honda now has the CR-V e:HEV and ZR-V e:HEV, and Nissan offers the X-Trail e-Power in a range of trim levels.

Hyundai is gearing up to offer the Tucson hybrid Down Under in the middle of 2024, and the Kia Sportage hybrid is coming to local showrooms – although it won’t be here until late 2024 or early 2025.
