This one goes out to all the car enthusiasts who want to smell like the thing they love most… smoking tyres!
To celebrate the first-ever Formula E race in Shanghai, Nissan has crafted a special edition perfume blending the fragrances of burnt rubber and cherry blossom, a classic combination by any measure.
It’s called ‘Smell My Dust’, and if you believe Nissan it will available to the public for purchase, although we’re not sure where and when.
A promotional video for the fragrance was posted by the Nissan Nismo page on social media platform X, featuring all the trademarks of a typical perfume commercial: dramatic imagery, emotional commentary and in-your-face branding.
In addition to the launch video, Nissan offered a written explanation of its new product.
“Nissan Formula E Team’s new scent combines tones of Sakura, the flower displayed on the cars, with the smell of tyre remnants from the team’s Nissan e-4ORCE 04 race cars to combine a surprising concoction,” Nissan said in a statement.
“A top note of cherry blossom branches and rosemary were combined with burnt sugar and woody tones. The result is a fragrance that embodies the beauty of cherry blossom with the thrill and grit of a racing team.”
Top Gearhas reported that real Formula E tyre fragments were used in the formulation of the fragrance, which was created in Shanghai ahead of the Shanghai E-Prix on May 25 and 26.
How much would you pay to smell like a fresh, flowery burnout?
