Mazda BT-50 recalled due to fire risk

Mazda Australia is recalling 8936 examples of its BT-50 ute as there’s a risk of a fuel leak that could lead to a fire.

This recall affects current TF-generation versions of the Mazda BT-50 with the larger 3.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine produced between 2021 and 2023.

“Due to a manufacturing issue, the fuel hose may chafe against the engine oil level bracket and become damaged,” said the company in its recall notice.

“If this occurs, fuel may leak in the presence of an external ignition source resulting in a vehicle fire.”

The related Isuzu D-Max is also being recalled for the same issue.

If you own an affected vehicle you’ll be contacted by Mazda Australia once parts are available and asked to schedule a time with a Mazda dealer. The fuel hose will be replaced at no charge.
