BMW recalls over 10,000 vehicles in Australia due to fire risk

Kia Australia has issued a nationwide product safety recall to rectify potentially faulty daytime running lights on more than 3000 late-model Stonic light SUVs.
“Due to a software issue, the daytime running lamps switch off when the vehicle enters fuel-saving (sailing) mode,” says Kia in its recall notice.
“Daytime running lamps not operating as intended may reduce the vehicle's visibility to other road users, increasing the risk of an accident and potentially resulting in serious injury or death.
“The condition also results in non-compliance with Australian Design Rule (ADR) 13/00 – Installation of Lighting and Light-signalling Devices on other than L-Group Vehicles and ADR 76/00 – Daytime Running Lamps.”

Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by Kia Australia and advised to contact an authorised Kia dealership to have the software updated, free of charge.
