Hyundai Santa Fe and Ioniq 6 recalled

Hyundai Australia is recalling close to 12,000 examples of its popular Santa Fe large SUV and lower-volume Ioniq 6 electric sedan as their seatbelts may not work properly.

"Due to a manufacturing defect, the anchorage tensioner stopper for the seatbelts in the front seating positions may lose tension," the company says in its recall notice.

"If this occurs the anchorage may become dislodged and as a result, the seatbelt may not operate as intended.

"If the seatbelt does not operate as intended, the occupant may not receive the full protection of the seatbelt system. This could increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants."

• A total of 11,928 current-generation Santa Fe and Ioniq 6 vehicles are affected, produced between 2022 and 2026

If you own an affected vehicle, you'll need to schedule an appointment with an authorised Hyundai dealership to have the rectification completed, free of charge.
