Ford Australia is recalling certain 2022 Ranger and Everest vehicles for an issue that may cause a sudden power loss.

“Due to a software issue, under certain circumstances if the battery level drops below a critical threshold, the transmission may shift into Park when the vehicle is travelling at speeds below 6 km/h,” the company says in its recall notice.

“This may cause a sudden stop without the rear brake lamps illuminating as intended.

“A sudden stop whilst driving at low speed and the rear brake lamps not illuminating as intended, could increase the potential risk of an accident, causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.”

Ford advises owners that this recall work must still be actioned even if works were performed under the previous recall from August 2023, which involved 4841 Ranger and Everest vehicles produced between 2021 and 2023.
