It’s a little more than a month before the 2026 Toyota HiLux is set to be unveiled, and key details of the new ute continue to be unearthed.
An image of the ninth-generation HiLux’s dashboard has been posted on Instagram by cars_secrets, and it appears to match an earlier leak of patent images.
The dash features a central floating infotainment touchscreen – likely around 10 inches in size – and an 1980s-style colour combination of maroon with trimmed black leather for contrast.

Unlike some other Toyota models, the new HiLux will feature shortcut buttons on either side of the screen.
It’s likely the circa-10-inch screen will be reserved for mid-range variants, while more expensive grades could get a larger infotainment screen.
The unusual wedge-shaped dash appears to subtly echo the front-end design of the HiLux, which is expected to feature slim headlights and a badge with ‘Toyota’ spelled out – rather than the round ‘three-ellipses’ emblem – signifying the ute’s off-road capabilities.

While there are similarities with the Toyota LandCruiser,Prado, and Tundra, the new HiLux dashboard looks to closely resemble that of the Tacoma – Toyota’s mid-size pickup for the North American market.
Documents discovered recently show the HiLux will launch in Australia with 16 variations, with all appearing to be powered by Toyota’s 2.8-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine, known as the 1GD-FTV.
The 2026 Toyota HiLux is a significant update of the outgoing model – now a decade old – with the ladder-frame chassis, doors, and roof panels set to carry over.
