Audi has only just updated its biggest SUV, but it looks like a replacement is already in the works.

This large SUV is believed to be the 2026 Audi Q7 – although some outlets have also suggested it’s the bigger Q9 – set for reveal during 2025.

Why do we think it’s a Q7? Our spy photographers caught it side-by-side with the current model, and say the prototype is the same size – where the Q9 is expected to be meaningfully longer.

Up front, it features a split headlight design in keeping with the new Q4 e-tron and upcoming A6, along with what looks like a new interpretation of the brand’s signature grille.

Down back, the car maintains a boxy profile in the interests of maintaining boot space and rear headroom.

Inside, we’re expecting a scaled-up version of the Q6 e-tron cabin. Expect lots of screens, lots of leather, and lots of space for the kids in the back.

Before the new Q7 arrives, the current model has been given another overhaul.

Audi says the new look is cleaner, while the interior technology has been updated to allow owners to download apps like Spotify directly to the vehicle rather than requiring Apple CarPlay.

Three engines are available in the standard range, all of which feature all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic. The flagship SQ7 packs a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine making 373kW and 770Nm.

Last year, Audi sold 1961 examples of the Q7 and SQ7 in Australia – more than the Volvo XC90 (1299 sales), but behind rivals like the Mercedes-Benz GLE (2535) and BMW X5 (3682).
