The three-pedal Toyota Supra will arrive in Australia before the end of 2022.

The 2023 Supra will be offered with a six-speed manual transmission, as confirmed by a social media teaser, and gains a number of detail changes to keep the rear-wheel drive sports car fresh in the face of competition from the Nissan Z.

Along with the stick shift, which will feature an automatic rev-matching system, the 2023 Supra gains new stabiliser bushings, a retuned adaptive suspension system, and a range of tweaked driver assists to smooth out the ride and sharpen handling.

A set of 19-inch forged alloy wheels will feature on the range-topping Supra GTS. They shave 1.2kg in unsprung mass from each corner, and bring the car’s styling more closely into line with the GR Yaris, Corolla, and 86.

Three new colours (Volcanic Ash Grey, Dawn Blue and Avalanche White) have been added to the palette, and the cabin is now offered with a tan trim option. The manual will also feature, obviously, a bespoke gear knob designed to offer “a firm grip”.

Power comes from the same 3.0-litre inline-six cylinder engine as before, making the same 285kW and 500Nm. When it touches down, the updated Supra will go head-to-head with the Nissan Z and its 298kW/475Nm engine.

This is the second time the Supra has been updated since its launch. The first rework brought about more power from the inline-six engine and an under-bonnet strut brace, the most recent update brought wireless Apple CarPlay to the BMW-derived infotainment system.

Pricing for the updated Supra hasn’t been revealed but we’ll know more ahead of the fourth quarter launch.

The current model kicks off at $87,303 before on-road costs, and extends to $97,303 before on-roads.
