The venerable Audi Q5line-up has seen some minor adjustments for 2023, with prices up and the entry-level 35 TDI powertrain returning as a full-time member of the local range alongside a new TFSI e plug-in hybrid variant.
Last year, Audi Australia introduced a number of ‘Limited Edition’ Q5 variants in the wake of component shortages and supply challenges, with adjusted specification and pricing compared to the core range. Now, it seems everything is back to normal.
The Audi Q5 35 TDI now serves as the new entry point to the range, following positive reception from Australian buyers in Limited Edition guise. It essentially mirrors the specification of the base 40 TDI quattro and 45 TFSI quattro, if with a lower state of tune and front-wheel drive instead of all-wheel drive.
Q5 55 TFSI e
Also new to the range is the Q5 55 TFSI e, a four-cylinder plug-in hybrid version that serves as the new power leader in the line-up, with up to 55 kilometres of pure electric driving range.
No longer is the core Q5 range available with a six-cylinder engine, though. The 50 TDI quattro with its 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel with mild-hybrid tech has been dropped from the local line-up, with the SQ5 TDI now the sole non-four-cylinder engine variant.
Prices are also up since MY23 builds commenced late last year, by between $1000-$2500 depending on variant. As before, both SUV and Sportback body styles are on offer.

Servicing and Warranty
The Audi range is covered by a five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty in Australia.
Maintenance is required every 12 months or 15,000 kilometres – whichever comes first. Audi offers five-year Genuine Care Plans that cover up to 75,000km.
For the regular Q5 TDI and TFSI range, the service plan costs $3140. Meanwhile, the SQ5 TDI’s plan is $3170. Audi hasn’t released pricing for the TFSI e plug-in hybrid yet.
Safety
The Audi Q5 and SQ5 range is covered by a five-star ANCAP safety rating, based on Euro NCAP tests conducted in 2017 – though TFSI e plug-in hybrid models are currently unrated.
It scored 93 per cent for adult occupant protection, 86 per cent for child occupant protection, 73 per cent for pedestrian protection, and 58 per cent for safety assist. Note this scored are for older test criteria.
