Australia’s favourite SUV is showing off its new look.

The 2022 Toyota RAV4 has been revealed for Europe, featuring a massaged design in line with the changes expected in Australia early next year.

UPDATE, 16/10/21 9:30am – A spokesperson for Toyota Australia issued the following statement: “At this stage, Toyota Australia have no further announcements to make on the upcoming RAV4“.

New LED projector headlights feature up front with a revised daytime running light signature, LED cabin lighting, USB-C charge ports and the availability of a power-adjustable front passenger seat. New alloy wheel designs are offered on certain grades in Europe, too.

Confirmed additions for Australia so far include upgraded LED fog lights, new headlights for hybrids, revised alloy wheels for most variants, an eight-way power passenger seat, three-stage ventilation for the front seats, and a digital rear-view mirror.

Australian 2022 Toyota RAV4 Edge models will get an enhanced brake assist function for the rear cross-traffic alert, while new illuminated window switches will be added to the GXL, Cruiser and Edge grades.

Headlining the announcement of the 2022 RAV4 for Europe is the addition of the RAV4 Adventure, essentially the RAV4 Edge as we know it Down Under, though the European-market model will get hybrid power.

The European RAV4 Adventure will offer unique Urban Khaki body paint and contrasting Dynamic Grey finish for the roof, front pillars and rear spoiler. It’s meant to pay tribute to the classic FJ40 LandCruiser.

CarExpert has contacted Toyota Australia to confirm whether the Euro pean upgrades are indicative of the planned changes for local models, and whether we might see a hybrid option for the RAV4 Edge.

Stay tuned for all the latest, and let us know your thoughts in the comments.
