2020 Volkswagen T-Cross 85TSI Life review

Volkswagen may be a late arrival to the small SUV segment but the T-Cross is exactly the kind of small SUV you'd expect from the German brand.

The updated Volkswagen Passat sedan doesn't set your pulse racing, but it's a supremely comfortable and high-technology mid-sized car for the shrinking few not interested in a family SUV.

Want a Tiguan, but need a bit more space? The seven-seat Tiguan Allspace could be what you need – provided the third row is reserved for emergencies.

It's expensive, but it's hard to imagine the Touareg without the dual-screen Innovision Package after spending some time with the system.

If you like the nicer things in life but keep an eye on your finances as well, the Touareg 190TDI Premium is luxurious for a palatable price tag – provided you don't go crazy with options.

It's the Golf R's grand finale. The best thing about the Final Edition are the hand-painted custom colours. I'll take the Violet Touch Pearlescent, thanks.

The fully-loaded Polo Style is not-so-mini Golf in terms of space, tech and refinement, though its price is within touching distance of its sibling - which is probably its biggest downfall.

The T-Roc has all the hallmarks of a category leader with good looks, strong performance, and lots of kit for a fair price.

The T-Cross is Volkswagen's smallest and most affordable SUV. This Polo-on-stilts stacks up well against the Hyundai Venue and Mazda CX-3.
