Here it is – the Porsche Macan Electric by CarExpert!

Last year we held a fun little competition with our social media community, in which members of the CarExpert team each configured a new Porsche Macan Electric in the hope of their creation being voted into production.
Well, this is the car you chose! Based on the entry-level ‘Macan’, the vehicle you see here is finished in the lovely Jet Black Metallic paint option, and equipped with 22-inch RS Spyder Design wheels painted in Neodyme.
The interior is specified with the Extended leather package, finished in Black/Bordeaux Red with optional 18-way adaptive front sports seats and exclusive ‘Crayon’ inserts.
Those are just some of the additions to this mid-size luxury electric SUV. All up, there’s about $87,000 of optional equipment applied, making this quite the up-spec ‘basey’ if you ask me.

But in addition to admiring our winning combination in the metal, we wanted to find out what it’s like to live with an electric Porsche over an extended period (beyond the regular seven-day press car booking), so we’ve embarked on a three-month relationship with this CarExpert-configured Macan EV.
Following this introduction, stay tuned for a detailed long-term review that will bring you the team’s ‘ownership’ impressions, including what we liked and we didn’t like so much…
We have the entry-level ‘Macan’ on test here, priced from $128,400 before on-road costs. However, the special ‘CarExpert Spec‘ is fitted with no less than $87,000 worth of optional extras, making it more expensive than the list price of the Macan Turbo flagship!

| Model | Price before on-road costs |
|---|---|
| 2025 Porsche Macan | $128,400 |
| 2025 Porsche Macan 4 | $134,400 |
| 2025 Porsche Macan 4S | $149,300 |
| 2025 Porsche Macan Turbo | $184,400 |

Find my dealThe base ‘Macan Electric’ is the first 2WD Porsche Macan, powered by a single electric motor driving the rear axle.

| Specifications | Macan |

| Drivetrain | Single-motor electric |
| Battery | 96kWh – net |
| Power | 250kW |
| Torque | 563Nm |
| Drive type | Rear-wheel drive |
| Weight – unladen | 2220kg |
| 0-100km/h (claimed) | 5.7s |

| Energy consumption (claimed) | 16.2kWh/100km |
| Claimed range – ECE | 654km |
| Max AC charge rate | 11kW |
| Max DC charge rate | 270kW |
It’s worth noting that all Macan variants offer an overboost function that raises the maximum power output by about 10 per cent when using launch control. The claimed 0-100km/h acceleration times above are using launch control, too.
Also worth noting is that Porsche Cars Australia’s range claims are based on the ‘ECE’ standard, which is more closely aligned with the older NEDC measurement than the newer WLTP protocol that’s more accurate in the real world.

The list of optional equipment added to our tester may be long, but the Macan’s base specification is still fairly comprehensive.

The new Macan Electric hasn’t been independently crash-tested by ANCAP or Euro NCAP. Its predecessor was awarded five stars in 2014, though this rating for the outgoing model has now expired.

Standard safety features include:
As noted earlier, some standard safety features in Australian-spec Macans are in addition to the global standard specification.

Porsche Cars Australia persists with a three-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty, which lags behind its competitors.

| Servicing an Warranty | Porsche Macan |
|---|---|
| Warranty | 3 years, unlimited kilometres – vehicle 8 years or 160,000 kilometres – EV battery |
| Roadside assistance | 3 years |
| Service intervals | 24 months or 30,000 kilometres |

Also unlike its key rivals, Porsche doesn’t do advertised or capped-price servicing, meaning that maintenance costs can vary between Porsche Centres.
Sadly, there’s no official partnership or charging subscription tied to any public EV charging providers, either.

On first impressions, it’s clear that our long-term Porsche Macan Electric certainly isn’t boring, and has quite a few layers to delve through…

Some still scoff at the idea of an electric Porsche but, given the famed German performance car brand’s two most popular models are family-friendly wagons, the advent of a zero-emissions Porsche SUV actually makes a lot of sense.
The spec chosen by our readers is also quite cool, if a little polarising. I’m not sure how I feel about the Crayon leather seat inserts against the Jet Black exterior and Neodyme accents. But, hey, at least it’s different and it certainly stands out on the road and in the Bunnings carpark.
And it will be interesting to know how many of the add-ons are actually worth spending the cash on. Of course, the cosmetic extras are subjective, but there are also many chassis and tech upgrades that change the way the Macan Electric drives and interacts with its occupants.
So stay tuned for our long-term assessment of this controversial vehicle in the coming months.
