You can no longer reserve a Tesla Model S or Model X in Australia

Tesla has removed the ability to reserve examples of its flagship Model S and Model X in Australia, casting doubt over what will happen to current order holders.

Both the Tesla Model S and Model X were previously able to be pre-ordered for $350, but this place on the website has now been replaced with a ‘Get Updates’ button for these vehicles.

It’s unclear what this means for Australians who had previously reserved a Tesla Model S or Model X.

The overhauled Tesla Model S and Model X were both revealed in 2021 and were previously meant to arrive Down Under in 2022.

In March last year the company removed list prices of both of these models from the local website.

The Tesla Model S Long Range had a list price of $141,990 before on-road costs, and the Model S Plaid was priced at $186,990 before on-road costs when they hit the configurator in August 2021.

The Model X prices on the other hand ranged from $161,990 before on-road costs for the Long Range to $174,990 before on-road costs for the Plaid.

This isn’t the first time Tesla has closed orders for one of its vehicles. The option to reserve a Cybertruck was removed from all markets except for people living in the USA, Canada or Mexico.

A concept version of the Cybertruck was first revealed in 2019 and current plans indicate production will commence between June and August this year. A number of ‘beta’ prototypes have been spied over the last few months.
