Jaecoo J7 recalled

Chery Motor Australia is recalling certain examples of the Jaecoo J7 mid-size SUV as they could unexpectedly lose power.

"Due to a manufacturing defect, the wiring harness under the front seats may rub against the front seat cross beam bracket and become damaged," the company says in its recall notice.

"As a result, this could lead to a sudden loss of motive power and/or engine shutdown without warning.

"A sudden loss of motive power and/or engine shut down whilst driving could increase the risk of an accident, causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and/or other road users."

• A total of 171 vehicles are affected, produced between 2025 and 2026

If you own an affected vehicle, you'll need to schedule an appointment with an Omoda Jaecoo dealership for a free inspection and repair.

This is the second recall ever for the Jaecoo J7 in Australia, and it follows a recall earlier this year for a very similar issue.

"Due to a manufacturing defect, the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) wiring harness may chafe against the engine mounting bracket and become damaged," the January recall notice read.

"As a result, this could lead to a sudden loss of motive power and/or engine shutdown without warning."

It affected 1028 examples of the J7, produced in 2025.
