A Toyota bZ4X driver in the US has made a costly mistake by forgetting to put their electric car in park, causing it roll into the ocean with a passenger still inside.
NBC10 Boston reports the driver and passenger of the Toyota bZ4X were eating lunch at the Blossom Street Pier Ferry Terminal boat ramp in Lynn, Massachusetts when the driver got out of the vehicle to put something in a nearby bin.
They turned around to see their bZ4X rolling down the ramp.
The driver claims they thought the vehicle was in park.
“I started feeling the car rolling a little bit. I grabbed a snow brush to try to stop it, and it wouldn’t stop…” the passenger said.
“Next thing you know, I did everything I could, rolled down the window, and I climbed out and jumped in the water.”
The driver and passenger are expected to be ok, according to NBC10 Boston.
The car was recovered from the water, but understandably will be written off after having been fully submerged.
