Keen on a Tesla Model S or Model X in the UK, but scared you won’t be able to reach toll booths, parking ticket boxes, and drive through windows?

Boy, does Tesla have a solution for you!

The end of right-hand drive production means you can’t get a Model S and Model X in Australia, but UK buyers can still buy the car in left-hand drive – after all, it’s not unusual to see cars from left-hand drive European nations on British roads.

Of course, driving a left-hook car on roads designed for right-hand drive presents challenges – reaching parking ticket machines, for example. To solve that problem, Tesla is bundling an extended grabber called “The Reacher”. Problem solved.

Tesla confirmed the death of right-hand drive Model S and Model X in May, despite accepting deposits for the cars since way back in 2021.

Prices were subsequently removed from the local site early in 2022, and then the option to reserve one was removed earlier this year.

The Model S and Model X have been confirmed to return to Europe and China.

With their recent facelifts, both models gained a new tri-motor Plaid performance flagship, as well as an overhauled interior with a new landscape-oriented infotainment touchscreen and a steering yoke.
