Subaru Australia has launched a new special-edition WRX, introducing a new yellow paint finish to celebrate the 60,000th Australian delivery of its iconic sports sedan.

The 2026 Subaru WRX Club Spec Evo is the Japanese brand’s latest limited-run special to be introduced to Australia, bringing a new Sunrise Yellow exterior colour, ‘Club Spec Evo’ decals on the rear doors, matte black alloy wheels, and Recaro sports bucket seats with yellow stitching.

It’s based on the flagship WRX tS Spec B, which means that the above equipment is in addition to gear like gold Brembo brake calipers, adaptive damping tuned by Subaru’s in-house STI performance division, a six-speed manual transmission, and, naturally, the huge STI-style rear wing.

Its price of $63,190 before on-road costs makes it the most expensive WRX sedan currently on sale, as it’s exactly $1000 more than the tS Spec B. Prospective buyers will have to be quick to secure one – just 75 examples are now up for grabs in Australian showrooms.

The upgrades fitted to the Club Spec Evo echo those of the BRZ tS Kiiro, 95 examples of which were brought to Australia in January 2026. Both feature Recaro sports seats, yellow interior stitching, matte black alloy wheels, and the same Sunrise Yellow paint.

Like the BRZ, the new special-edition WRX brings no mechanical tweaks over the model it’s based on. It’s therefore powered by a 2.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder ‘boxer’ engine producing 202kW of power and 350Nm of torque, with drive sent to all four wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox.

As with any limited-run Subaru, the Club Spec Evo sports a unique interior badge commemorating the build number of that particular vehicle.

Importantly, this 60,000-unit milestone counts all WRX and Impreza WRX models sold in Australia since their introduction in 1994, but excludes the high-performance WRX STI. Subaru Australia celebrated the all-encompassing 70,000-unit sales milestone for the WRX and WRX STI in October 2025.

2026 Subaru WRX Club Spec Evo equipment highlights:

    • 19-inch matte black alloy wheels
    • Sunrise Yellow exterior colour
    • ‘Club Spec Evo’ decals on rear doors
    • Recaro sports bucket seats
      • Suede upholstery with leather-look accents
      • Yellow and black trim with yellow contrast stitching
    • Club Spec Evo interior badge with individual limited-edition vehicle numbering
    • Yellow contrast interior stitching

That’s in addition to the WRX tS Spec B, which features:

    • STI rear wing
    • Recaro seats
      • 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat
      • 4-way manually adjustable passenger seat
    • Gold Brembo brake calipers
      • Six-piston front, two-piston rear
    • STI steering wheel logo
    • 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster
    • STI performance exhaust mufflers (no-cost option)

Though Sunrise Yellow is a new colour, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen a ‘Club Spec’ WRX on sale in Australia. Most recently was 2024, when Subaru introduced 150 examples of the limited-run WRX Club Spec, preceding the tS Spec B.

There have also been Club Spec editions of every generation of WRX and Impreza WRX since 1997, including a handful of Club Spec Evo versions of both the first- and second-generation Impreza WRX – only the ‘bugeye’ and ‘blobeye’ iterations of the latter.

Traditionally, these special editions brought various cosmetic enhancements, but stopped short of major mechanical and physical tweaks beyond improved brakes and sportier seats. That’s excluding examples like the Club Spec 9 in 2006, which added bespoke STI suspension, an STI front lip, and a short-throw gear shifter.

The addition of Sunrise Yellow for the Australian WRX follows both the BRZ tS Kiiro and various other special-edition Subarus sporting the same colour overseas. This includes the STI Sport R-Black Limited II STI Performance versions of the Levorg and WRX in Japan, as well as Series.Yellow versions of the BRZ tS and WRX tS in the US.
