Lexus Australia is recalling its large GX off-road SUV and its small UX crossover SUV due to an issue with their digital instrument cluster.

The recall affects the petrol-powered GX550, hybrid UX300h, and electric UX300e.

"During vehicle startup, due to a software error of the combination meter, some areas of the combination meter may not be displayed," the company says in its recall notice.

"In this condition, the indicators for engine oil pressure, engine coolant temperature, electrical charge, and other warning messages may not display on the combination meter.

"Failure of the instrument cluster to display critical safety information or warning indicators may increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and/or other road users."

This week, Toyota also recalled certain current-generation Prado SUVs for the same issue.

    • A total of 2593 vehicles are affected, produced between 2024 and 2025

The fix will be delivered across two separate over-the-air software updates, which will take a total of 60-90 minutes to complete. If you own an affected vehicle, you'll be notified via a pop-up on the infotainment touchscreen.

You can also choose to schedule an appointment with an authorised Lexus dealer to have them apply the updates, however, you may need to make your vehicle available for a longer period of time.

If you have any further questions, you can contact an authorised Lexus dealer. Alternatively, you can contact the Lexus Customer Assistance Centre on 1800 023 009 on weekdays between 9:30am and 5:30pm AEST.
