Ford Australia is recalling over 3000 examples of the Transit Custom van and related Tourneo people mover due to defective wipers.

"Due to a manufacturing defect, vehicles may experience a gradual decline in windshield wiper performance or a sudden and complete loss of wiper operation," the company says in its recall notice.

"This could lead to poor visibility for the driver. Poor visibility while driving will increase the risk of an accident, causing serious injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users."
