Ford Australia is the latest carmaker to slash prices of its electric vehicles (EVs), with cuts of up to $8000 on its Mustang Mach-E and by $15,000 on its E-Transit.

While some brands have been touting EV price reductions as part of end of financial year promotions, Ford hasn’t specified an end date for this sharper pricing.

The new prices come into effect on June 1, 2024.

The E-Transit’s price cut brings it under the $100,000 barrier, with a before on-roads price of $89,990.

It’s the second round of price cuts for the Mustang Mach-E, which saw reductions of up to $7000 shortly before deliveries began late in 2023.

At the time, Ford said it was responding to an evolving EV market.

Its arch-rival, the Tesla Model Y, has also received multiple price cuts in recent months.

Tesla’s top-selling SUV – Australia’s best-selling EV – has proved a moving target for Ford both here and abroad, and now starts at $55,900 before on-road costs, down $9500 from April.

All Mustang Mach-E variants are down by at least $7000 with this latest cut, with the base Select receiving an $8000 reduction.

“These MLP price reductions offer even greater value to our customers and it makes these great vehicles an option for more people,” said Ford Australia and New Zealand president and CEO Andrew Birkic.
