UPDATED 07/10/2026 9:20am: The 2027 Mini Countryman Untamed Edition has been confirmed for Australian release in early 2027 with a choice of petrol S All4 and electric SE All4 powertrains.
However, it will miss out on several mechanical upgrades offered in other markets, including the 15mm suspension lift, Pirelli all-terrain tyres, and Autohome roof tent.
Australian examples of the Untamed will also continue with 1500kg (S) and 1200kg (SE) braked towing capacities, despite petrol variants offering a higher 2000kg capacity in some other markets.
Mini has taken the wraps off the Countryman Untamed Edition, which is claimed to be a more rugged, off-road-ready version of the small-car brand's compact SUV.
Due to commence production in November ahead of a global market launch in the new year, the 2027 Mini Countryman Untamed Edition is headlined by a suspension lift (depending on the market), all-terrain tyres, exclusive design elements, and recalibrated ABS, stability control and steering systems.
Additionally, Mini has developed a range of accessories for the adventure-ready Countryman, including a roof-top tent created in partnership with Italian design firm Autohome, and camping gear in collaboration with outdoor equipment specialist Helinox.
Depending on the market (Australian release timing is still TBC), the Countryman Untamed Edition will be offered in all engine variants – curiously including the front-driven Countryman C, D and E, along with the all-paw S All4 and SE All4 models.

The catch mentioned earlier? Well, the US and Canadian markets will get the 15mm suspension lift (raising ground clearance by a total of 19mm) with all versions of the Countryman Untamed Edition, while Europe will exclusively offer the lift kit on all-electric variants.
Said suspension lift optimises approach and breakover angles, and contributes to enhanced off-road capability. Adding to that are specially developed Pirelli Scorpion all-terrain tyres, which will be standard in North America and optional in Europe.
Mini says the braking and stability control systems have been recalibrated, as mentioned earlier, to accommodate the revised (optional) suspension and all-terrain tyres.
The Countryman Untamed Edition can also be optioned with a tow bar, with maximum towing capacity rated at up to 2.0 tonnes. Roof load capacity is rated at 75kg when driving and up to 300kg when stationary.

Beyond the off-road equipment, the Untamed Edition can be distinguished by a new grille with vertical inserts, finished in Dark Steel.
New side sills, redesigned front and rear underbody protection as well as a new rear diffuser are all exclusive to the Untamed Edition, as are the textured matte-black film on the wheel-arches, side sills and Power Dome on the bonnet.
Filling said arches are new 19-inch 'Untamed Edition Spoke' light-alloy wheels, inspired by classic off-road steel wheels. The centre caps feature the Mini wordmark in Dark Steel.
The special edition will also offer exclusive exterior paint finishes said to be inspired by "natural, earthy and mineral tones" – including Hideaway Grey, Nomad Blue and Frozen Nomad Blue. The 'Frozen' matte paint option marks the first time a matte exterior paint has been offered in a series-production Mini.

Inside, the Untamed gets special Nightshade Blue sports seats, upholstered in Vescin with knitted sections in the head restraint and shoulder areas.
Mini says the knit pattern is inspired by rock formations, and it’s complemented by piping and stitching accents in Cornflower Blue. The 'Untamed' logo with mountain panorama adds some extra design flourish.
The dashboard and door panels echo the knitted surfaces, with a special Millennial Melange colourway combining grey shades with "a rich blue base".
All the remaining interior accents have switched out Vibrant Silver for the Untamed Edition's signature Dark Steel, with more Cornflower Blue bits on the steering wheel and other interior elements. A redesigned centre console storage box gets a more rugged look to reference outdoor equipment.
Rounding out the interior appointments are rubber floor mats for the cabin and luggage compartment, again said to take design inspiration from natural rock formations.

CarExpert has reached out to Mini Australia regarding local specifications and timing for the new Countryman Untamed Edition.
While it's understood the new model will come Down Under, some of the more rugged upgrades confirmed for other markets may not make it to Australian models. Stay tuned for more.
