The updated 2027 Cupra Tavascan has been detailed for the world, ahead of production commencing "in the coming weeks".
Headlining the changes are a new entry-level variant of the Spanish brand's electric SUV; updated digital displays and software; physical buttons on the steering wheel; and a new paint option.
Due to go on sale in Europe later this year, the updated 2027 Tavascan will debut a new 140kW 'Tavascan' entry model with a smaller 58kWh battery, claimed to deliver around 435km of driving range. It will sit below the existing 77kWh Endurance and VZ variants.
While down on power compared to the existing range, Cupra says the base grade's 140kW rear-mounted electric motor "ensures a confident, engaging driving experience while maintaining the Tavascan’s driver‑focused character and progressive spirit".

More substantial design changes have been made in the cabin, with the updated Tavascan receiving a new 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster first seen in the updated Born, running a new look to the interface that appears inspired by the Tindaya concept.
The central infotainment touchscreen is also running the Volkswagen Group's latest Android-powered software.
As with the updated Born, the new user interface for the touchscreen offers access to new apps and smartphone-like functionality courtesy of the Google-based operating system. There are also new electric air vents, which pre-circulate air and adjusts its direction "based on occupants and sun position" before the driver enters the cabin.
The steering wheel has done away with touch-capacitive buttons, and now gets physical buttons. A new Mobile Device Key offers up to four digital keys that can be shared via compatible smartphones, in addition to one reserved for the primary user.
Cupra has also added vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability to the Tavascan, which allows the vehicle to double-up as a rolling energy bank to power external devices "such as laptops, e‑bikes or full‑powered sound systems" via an adapter.

Endurance and VZ models with the larger 77kWh battery are exclusively available with Launch Control, while all models now offer a proper 'One-Pedal' driving mode.
"This function delivers smoother deceleration, greater energy recovery and a more intuitive driving experience, particularly effective in urban environments and stop‑and‑go traffic, allowing the vehicle to come to a complete stop without using the brake pedal," Cupra says in its media release.
The 12-speaker Sennheiser-branded premium audio system as also been upgraded, and integrates new Sennheiser Contrabass tech – which "uses psychoacoustic techniques to deliver deep, punchy low‑end frequencies".
"The result is a rich, enveloping soundscape that fills the cabin with exceptional clarity and depth," the company says.
Finally, Cupra's distinctive Dark Void metallic purple exterior paint joins the Tavascan's palette, having filtered out across other model lines within the brand's stable.

While the bulk of Cupra's range is sourced from various European nations like Spain, Czechia and Hungary, the Tavascan is sourced from the VW Group’s Anhui facility in China, where it’s built alongside the near-identical Volkswagen ID.UNYX which is sold exclusively in the Chinese market.
CarExpert has reached out to Cupra Australia regarding the Tavascan updates revealed by head office, and is awaiting a response.
In 2025 the Tavascan was the Spanish brand's equal second-best seller in the local lineup, returning 339 registrations for the calendar year like the Leon small car. The Formentor crossover remains by far Cupra's top-seller in Australia, with 1490 units registered in 2025.
Said sales leader for the brand is due to get its mid-life facelift imminently, likely at the start of the second quarter (April-June), which is some 12 months after the new model went on sale in the European and UK markets.
