Toyota is gearing up to give the Supra a power boost.

A prototype, likely the GRMN, has been snapped testing at the Nurburgring with some choice upgrades to the front end.

Those upgrades aren’t just for show; our spy photographers claim the prototype packs a version of the ‘S58’ 3.0-litre inline-six cylinder engine from the BMW M2 under the bonnet instead of the B58 it currently shares with the BMW M340i and Z4.

Where the current GR Supra makes 285kW of power and 500Nm of torque, the engine in the M2 pumps out 338kW and 550Nm – or up to 404kW in the BMW M4 CSL.

Like the Supra, the M2 is offered with a choice of eight-speed automatic or six-speed manual transmission.

The new bonnet (which appears to be the only part of this car that’s camouflaged, given there’s no hiding the rear wing) features extra venting, while the bumper has been tweaked with new canards and a revised lower lip.

It looks like there are bigger brakes hiding behind those wheels, complete with red calipers, and it’s likely the GRMN will ride on a revised suspension setup compared to the regular GR Supra.

The GRMN badge has been applied to two cars before – one version of the previous Yaris, and one version of the GR Yaris.

Where GR stands for Gazoo Racing, GRMN stands for Gazoo Racing Masters of the Nurburgring. Best Car Web has claimed the Supra GRMN will be a send-off for the car, before it’s taken out of production in 2025.

This report also indicated it would be a limited-run model, with potentially only 200 units produced.
